Many people search for how much BPC-157 and TB-500 to take and they expect one clear number. That is a fair question and the honest answer is simple. No approved human dose exists for either peptide. Looking for a dose online feels like asking ten people for directions and getting twelve different answers.

This blog sticks to facts. It explains what the two peptides are and what research exists. It also covers the legal position in the UK and the risks that matter before anyone makes a choice.

The Short Answer

There is no proven or approved human dose of BPC-157 or TB-500. No regulator has approved either one for people. Most research was done on animals and animal amounts cannot be copied safely to humans. Any number you see online comes from sellers or personal stories and not from proper human trials.

What Are BPC-157 and TB-500?

BPC-157 is a lab made peptide with 15 amino acids. The name stands for Body Protection Compound 157. It comes from a sequence found in human gastric juice. Researchers have mostly studied it in animals for gut and tendon and muscle repair.

TB-500 is sold as a version of thymosin beta 4. Thymosin beta 4 is a natural protein with 43 amino acids that the body makes. It plays a role in cell movement and tissue repair.

Sellers often mix the two into one blend. A blend is not a licensed medicine. It is sold as one of many research peptides for lab use only.

Why There Is No Approved Dose

A dose needs proof. Proof comes from human trials that test safety and results at set amounts. For these two peptides that proof is missing. Here are the facts.

  • No drug regulator has approved BPC-157 for human use.
  • TB-500 has no approval for any medical use.
  • Animal studies used amounts based on the body weight of rats and mice. Those amounts do not translate to a person.
  • BPC-157 breaks down fast. In rats its half life was between 7.9 and 30 minutes. How this works in humans is not well known.

Without these facts any dose is only a guess.

What Human Research Exists

A 2025 systematic review in PubMed Central looked at 36 studies on BPC-157. Thirty five were animal studies and only one was a human study. That human study looked back at 12 people with long lasting knee pain who had a BPC-157 injection in the knee. Seven of the twelve said they felt less pain for more than six months.

This result is weak. The people reported how they felt and there was no control group. The review also found no clinical safety data. A phase 1 safety trial in healthy volunteers was registered on ClinicalTrials.gov but its results have not been published in a reliable way.

For TB-500 the human evidence is even thinner. Several reviews describe it as almost nonexistent. Anyone who reads about a proven result should check where the claim came from. You can also read more in our guide on how peptide research is tested.

Both peptides share the same big gap. Neither one has the human proof needed to set a safe amount.

Why Online Dosing Numbers Cannot Be Trusted

Search for a dose and you will find many plans with different amounts and different lengths of use. They come from sellers and forums and blogs. They do not agree with each other because none of them rests on a proper human trial.

  • Sellers earn money when you buy so their plans often push more product.
  • Personal stories cannot show cause and effect.
  • Dose calculators ask for age and weight but no study supports their output.
  • Product purity is unknown. The PubMed Central review warns that products sold as BPC-157 are not checked for quality or safety.

A vial that says research use only is a polite way of saying that your kitchen is not a laboratory.

Legal Status in the UK

Neither BPC-157 nor TB-500 is approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Both are sold as research chemicals. They cannot be legally marketed or sold for human use. The MHRA has also acted against unlicensed peptide suppliers.

The United States has a similar position. The FDA has not approved either peptide for any medical use. You can read more on our page about peptide laws in the UK.

Risks and Safety Concerns

The main risk is the unknown. Animal studies showed no harm in several organs but no one has proven human safety. Other risks include the following.

  • No clinical safety data for BPC-157 or TB-500 in humans.
  • Unregulated manufacturing that can lead to contamination or wrong strength.
  • Infection risk if injections are prepared or given without sterile methods.
  • Unknown long term effects and unknown reactions with other medicines.

Sport and Drug Testing Rules

The World Anti-Doping Agency named thymosin beta 4 and TB-500 as prohibited examples in 2018. BPC-157 is also on the prohibited list as a non approved substance. Tests can find these peptides in urine and blood. Athletes who use them risk a ban.

What to Do Before Considering Any Peptide

  1. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist about your injury or gut problem.
  2. Ask about proven options such as rest and imaging and physiotherapy for injury recovery.
  3. Avoid sellers who give a personal dose plan.
  4. Do not rely on online dose calculators.
  5. Follow ClinicalTrials.gov for new human studies on BPC-157 and TB-500.
